Pull Maintenance On Your Hubs !!!

I have a d44 with disc brakes. Does the small rubber seal in the spindle service kit go on after installing the needle bearing? My old bearing didn't seem to have that seal and I don't see it in the diagrams. If it goes on after I'm assuming you need to press the bearing in there a bit farther to make space.

If the spindle inner bearing is tapped inside the spindle to it's designated stop, there will be room for the seal.

The seal is needed to prevent outside crap from entering the spindle bearing. Over time, those seals do wear through and allow contamination.

And...a disc brake d44 from a Scout II uses a different spindle set as compared to the units used on the fullsize d44 axles. Some parts do interchange, some don't.

Looks like the po didn't tap the old needle bearing in all the way. There is room to tap the new bearing in further to allow room for the seal.

Thank you for the info.
