That tiny hole is the vent for the atmospheric side of the accelerator pump diaphragm. It must be kept clean in order for the accel pump to operate.

So something is not seated between the main well and the carb body. The accel pump element sits in between the two parts and has the conical spring on the main well side when it's installed. The leak is allowing fuel from the fuel bowl to enter the atmospheric side of the accel pump element.

Good call,I opened it up to make sure everything was tight, obviosly it was too tight, when I tried to back out the two bottom screws the heads turned off.......batting a 1000!do you happen to know the size nd thread pitch of the screws so I can try to track some down.thanx again.

The main well screws are #6-32. The two long ones are 3/4" in length. The short ones are 1/2" in length.

Thanx, napa had the screws and a tap so I can chase the threads where it broke off, maybe tonight ill get some more progress made.

Got it back together and everything looks good no more fuel leaking, fuels sprays well down the throati noticed it sprays real heavy as the throttle is depressed now,it never did that before I stated, will try to get it started tomorrow.

Carb installed,I get it to start if I have someone turn the key while I pump the throttle and play with the choke....it wont rev just sputters along, ocasional backfires...then dies.do you think im chasing the wrong problem here?

Replaced the damn points and condensor and it literally started on the first key bump, purrs like a kitten now, cant believe it actually runs as smooth as it does!
