Priming new floor panels

I have the new floor panels I ordered from IHPA just about ready to weld in, and I'm thinking ahead to paint. There appears to be some kind of coating on the new sheet metal (?) and I'm wondering if that affects the kind of primer to be used. Is a standard self-etching primer satisfactory for these parts?

On another topic: I also ordered a new auto tranny shifter boot. Any trick to getting the boot onto the shifter stick without cutting it?

Thanks

No special primers are needed for any of the body panels and parts we sell.

As for the shifter boot easiest way is to unscrew the knob and then remove the roll pin that is holding the release collar in place. With that out of the way the boot well slide right into place.
