I have a prestolite 496004c91 distributor from a mv404 engine. The drive gear is in sad shape and is misfiring and slipping out of timing. It is out of a 1978 loadstar, but I have been told it is same engine as 1980.

I am hoping since often times Scout owners retrofit this engine into their rigs, I might find some help here. I have been searching everywhere for a replacement and cant find one based of the information I have.

The gear is 16 tooth slant left. I have been given a crossover number for the distributor of 3044850 by the local International dealer, but that is discontinued too.

Does anyone have a source or sources for me to check with? Do they use the same hear for other International engines or Ford engines? If so which ones.

Welcome to the forum. I highly doubt that any Scout owner has ever swapped and mv engine into their Scout. There's no good reason to. I've never heard of it being done in the 15 years that I've been active on forums like this one. An sv 392 weighs over 700lbs dry and that's plenty of lard to be sitting on the Scout front end. An mv has got to be a couple more bills heavier than an sv. Best bet May be to hit some nearby wrecking yards and try to find another mv with a distributor in it. I can't offer you much beyond those observations. I wish you luck in your quest.
