power timing?

Hello all.
Question about power timing sv engines. Read the sticky. But, didn't see designation of to leave ported vac. Connected to vac. Adv. Or, perform precedure with it disconnected. Next, ? If not connected, do you re-connect after setting timing?

Just leave the vacuum advance hose connected (after making certain it actually works!).

What we're doing is setting the timing so the engine likes what it gets based upon it's own individual characteristics. And that includes overall timing. The idea is to make it run right, then go back with a light (if ya care) and see what it actually is.

But if the vacuum advance is not working (most common on the Holley distributors but possible on any distributor), then that needs to be corrected first.

Michael, seems like I remember reading a post where you mentioned not to power time if it was a California smogger version and all 100% original. Is that correct?

If I ever stated that, it was because the vehicle under discussion was going to be smogged in kali.

You wanna wake up a kali-smogger???, then powertime it after it's been smogged.
