performance 2bbl manifold for for cylinders?

It seems that more than a few people are trying to modify their four cylinder intakes to 2 barrels, I also would like such an animal, is there any chance any of the vendors would step up to produce such an intake?
An rpt intake maybe???:winky:

Interesting topic and question.

The modification michael mayben is making to the aluminum manifold is going to be more that adequate for a 2bbl weber conversion on a street/trail Scout.

I will only say that full cad drawings exist for a dual side draught
(dhla or dcoe) intake manifold for the IH four cylinders. Also for dual down draught (idf and similar) carbs. At least one "will"
be built along with special apparatus for the exhaust side of the motor.

Keep watching ihon for news.

They have no interest in making a spread bore intake for the 266/304's that would make those engines so much better to drive/tow/wheel, so I cant see them taking any interest in an engine that there are so few of around to make any improvements upon?

Somewhere in a box in my shop exists an adapter for a palmer marine 196 that used twin sidedraft carters. I have both carbs and the linkage too. It was used for under low profile decks where clearance was a big issue, even 1" made a difference. I took it off a twin screw trojan at a marine salvage yard. If I can find it I'll post it up. It looks a lot easier to fabricate than a full-on manifold.

I missed out on the one that was on a 266 palmer, I was too slow and the dnr forced the salvage operation to scrap the boat for a waterway beautification push around here a few years back...

I have to say these sidedrafts could be quite disastrous in a boat...wildly fluctuating float levels in a pitching sea...flooding out, leaking....unsealed alternators/starters....bang...you get my drifty....

Stu,
that is a great find. Would love to own one.
awesome if you could post pictures.

My interest in a discreet runner induction system is that nothing produces better torque everywhere in the rpm band. Also unmatched cylinder to cylinder mixture distribution lowers the chances for a leaned out hole and detonation

the carbs are very well engineered for optimum fuel metering even at low rpm. Nothing does it better.

I was hopin' stu would see this thread!

I was thinking of stu's palmer setup a few weeks back when Robert and I jawwed about the sidesuk weber concept onna laydown IH fourbanger. Now I gotta go goggleup a palmer 196!

The simple layout of the IH 152/196 motors is ideal for playing with stuff like this, and something very few folks even think about. And any kinda engine mods from mild to wild would be well received by this extremely robust rotating assembly!
