Paper VIN Sticker

Hey all. As some of you know I'm swapping tubs on my '74 Scout II. I bought a '79 tub to replace the '74. My question is, has anybody been successful in transferring the paper id/vin tag on the left door jamb without destroying it? If so I'd really appreciate some guidance as to how to do this. Thanks, Danny

If you pull that sticker off, it will read "void" in multiple diagonal rows across the sticker.

Cut the metal out and transfer it by welding??

Some people have claimed success with intact removal by heating the metal behind the label (from the back side) to soften the adhesive. There are vendors that make repros of those labels, but they are around $100.

Forget the paper doodad, was not meant to last 30 years.
Your issue will be the metal tag.

Thanks Craig. I remember when I brought it down from wa that dmv was only interested in the metal id tag. She looked at the paper one but that wasn't the one she wanted. Thank you all who replied. Danny

So basically all I can do is swap everything out except the door posts. One problem I do have is I don't have a title for the 79 so it is a parts only tub. Maybe a trip to dmv is in order so I can figure the best way to go about this. The 74 tub is pretty rusted but not unrepairable. Thanks for all the info guys, Danny
