Oil choice for 1200C pickup.

what are the other guys using in terms of oil? Manual says 10-30 for normal weather conditions. Would you recommend synthetic or regular due to the age of the engine?
 
what engine? what kind of temp range do you drive in? (ambient)

i have a 304 v8 that's primarily driven off road. i run straight 30wt. my normal temp is 60 to 100 deg. F. 15-40 is also popular.

i wouldn't run 10-30w here, it's too thin for the temp and more prone to leak out. the same can be said for synthetic. it is slipperier than conventional oil and will usually make any leaks you have worse.
 
I am sorry for the ignorance level here, but I just looked at the door pillar and it says 1200B. I live in NJ so it gets pretty cold and hot in each winter and summer. It will be housed in a garage though, and hopefully by this winter I will have it insulated. Still trying to figure out which engine I have.
 
Thanks for the help. I did read that somewhere else today. I believe my truck takes 5 Qt but ill buy 6 in case.
