oe dash clock

picked up an oe dash clock, and of course it is not working. this clock is as old as i am and this is my first experience opening one.
i've got it out of the case and this is what i have,

1. the hands adjust with the knob
2. the second hand advances when the oscillator does it's thing
3. with the points closed, i have continuity through the coils
4. i've cleaned the mechanics and the contacts on the points

problem is when i apply 12 volts, the points pop open and nothing else happens. it's as if the clock doesn't wind. wondering if maybe the mechanics are bound up not allowing it to wind?

anybody with a similar experience and some thoughts?

These clocks are notorious for not working. I even have a NOS one that doesn't work. Most likely you will have to have it rebuilt at an electronics or specialty clock shop.

thanks. i read a bit about that in different posts.

believe it or not, i got it working. after a cleaning and a few drops of lube we are good to go. the mechanics seem to have been binding a bit with dirt, oxidation, etc.

have it hooked to 12 volts right now to see how long it stays running.
