Well it looks as though I am again IHSTO president. I gave it plenty of though before stepping up to the plate, but now that it's done I am glad I did. We had two other people step up, dan jaquith for vp and eric dinger for treasurer. We had a small showing at the meeting, but had some very constructive discussions. Regardless of that we are still looking for the following officer spots to be filled
secretary - basically maintaining the club member list, getting new members added to the list and helping with mailings as needed (about the easiest office there is :d)
event coordinator - pretty much exactly what it sounds like, you help coordinate events. This office isn't in charge of thinking up stuff for the club to do, just facilitate getting it done. Helping with entry forms, reserving camping spots and just general "cat herding" type activities. This will be an especially important office to me, as with my work schedule it's highly unlikely I'll have weekends off.
Trail boss - at times works with and independent of the event coordinator. As the title implies they are in charge of setting up trail rides for the club, checking over rigs and making sure everyone has a safe time on the trail and gets off it safely. Trail experience is a requirement for this office.
Binder Bee chair - in charge of handling the planning of Binder Bee. While this May seem daunting, in the past years that I have been president the chair leaned on the officers to help when needed. The chair is also encouraged to delegate as much as they can as there are many loose ends they will be chasing down regardless. This is a hard office, but also the most rewarding.
So, if you or anyone else wants to step up for these position, please feel free to contact me. I would like more people to help with the general running and decision making for the club. It really is a fun time and drama will be kept to a minimum.
With that out of the way, we spent the rest of the meeting talking about what was going on this year. We didn't have much new business, but I do have a few things laid out.
November 1st - IHSTO monthly meeting. I'll be going of the amc engines IH used in their light line vehicles. Dad now has two amc powered IH's so I think it will be good to give a bit of back ground on the engines.
Decmeber 7th - this is a Friday and is also the IHSTO annual Christmas meeting. It will be held,as in years past, at prince of life lutheran church In oregon city. This is event is a great IHSTO tradition and fun for the family. More details to follow.
In closing I look forward to heading IHSTO. I have some good ideas of what I'd like to see happen this year and how to get there. I'd like help, so please speak up if you'd like to be an officer. I can honestly say we'd love to have ya.
