Not An IH But Still A Great Garage Find

Upon inspecting the head setup (by the shop I use for machine work) I found the seat spring pressures above the spec by 15#.
He had used sbc springs and that is ok, but in the case of my 100% stock build, the cam will only suffer from higher than normal wear at best. So I rechecked the installed height and installed the oem spec spring. Yeah probably :out: over kill.

from the factory:
installed height 1.693" (43mm)
spring load @ installed height: 70#

the photos represent the height checking process and the sbc spring on my load cell. 85# @ 1.693"

;) the sickness I have is from building engines/cars for a long time, and getting tired along the way of not having the right tool.

Or getting tool envy and wanting to fix it.:icon_gonk::out:

Progress over the holidays.
Waiting for rocker shaft and a replacement arm. One had some unfortunate wear that I could not ignore.
Also a cracked intake manifold. I will see about a good used replacement and weld repair of the old one.
Oh and the ugly yellow filter is only a nos one I got with my travelette that I use to keep things clean while building engines.

Up and running very well. Ready for smog test.Do we have an idea when I should arrive? Sure things are a tad upside down. I could head down early or later. Got stuff that won't handle heat real well. IMG_2804.jpg
