Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have posted a question, I guess the advice I have gotten has been so good the Scout has been running fine. But, I have recently heard a niose that as near as I can tell coming from the tranny.
1974 Scout II
345 engine
727 auto tranny
the noise sounds like a bearing growl or a shutter at just about idle when cold and in park. But I don't hear it going down the road when engine is warm.
I did find, with engine warm, when I shift from park to rev I hear the growl or when shifting from rev to drive I hear it. After the shift is made very hard to get the growl.
The engine seems to check out as far as no metal in oil, rockers in good shape and oil pressure is good and it runs smooth.
So any one run across something like this? I am thinking tranny pump bearing or a band chattering when shifting. Tranny is full of fluid.
Getting ready to pull tranny later this week I just thought I would run it by the experts.
Thank
ron
