The starter is your first electrical junction downstream from the power source. So, first question...have you verified that your battery is fully charged, cables properly connected, and terminals/clamps are corrosion free? How much voltage is showing on the meter that I'm stupidly assuming you have at your disposal when you probe across the batt terms? Now take that same possibly non-existant meter and take a reading at the large lug of the starter solenoid. Should be nearly identical to what you saw or didn't see at the battery...as in 12.x volts. Much below 12 either place and you're not going to have sufficient poop to crank the motor. Now, it is certainly possible to have perfect voltage available at the solenoid and still not be able to engage the starter motor. It has to be triggered via the ignition switch, or by jumping the 's' terminal to the large lug with a screwdriver-type instrument, taking all necessary safety precautions to avoid potential injury and property damage. We're not there, so we have no earthly idea how you hooked it up. A picture would be worth a million words. Does this rig have an auto trans?
