This is a 1969 4x4 Scout, 304, T39 tranny, Spicer 20 T case, Dana 30 front, Dana 44 rear. Holly dizz , Pertronix 1481, Flame Thrower coil. The Scout was running, not great but it was running. I pulled her into the garage to install a reman holly 2300. Install went good, no problems to speak off. turned the key and nothing. Battery is 12.6v. Now the wiring is not in the best of condition and I planned on a re-wire in April same time I planned on an engine overhaul. I pulled the ignition switch out of the dash and traced the wiring out and fixed a few connection. Wire from battery is good. Wiring to the starter is good. Wiring to the distributor goes to a Resistor then to the coil and then the distributor. I pulled the wire from the ignition switch going to the starter and touched it to the bat wire location. The starter did get power, but it sounded like it was just energizing and locked up or not moving. So I pulled the starter and took it to Autozone for a test. After testing 3 times they indicated the starter was fine. I tested the power at the ignition switch and it was 2.64 volts. Problem solved, no. I installed the starter and then jumpered the power for the ignition wire from the starter switch to the battery. This time it tried to power continuously and hitting but no starting and it still sounded like it was not moving the rotor forward to rotate the engine. At the same time I clipped a test light to the neg cable and started pulling connections apart. The only connection that made the test light go out when removed was the hot side of the wiring to the pertronix pickup. So thinking it was torched, I replaced it. Test light out, problem solved. Tried to start again, no start and I have a test light again at the neg cable. Sooo, I am currently needing some guidance and it would be greatly appreciated.
