Hello All,
Picking up my new Scout 800 in about a week and quietly collecting parts. I'm building this for my wife and "think" I have a pretty solid plan so far.
1. Complete roadster version of a 800. Car is for summer driving only so it will just have the windshield and that's about it.
2. 355" SBC, I know..... But I have it all sitting on the shelf. SM465, NP208
3. Dana 44's, hoping to use the early Wagoneer rear end as is 58.5" , and will narrow a Chevy truck for the front 58.5"~60" . 4.11's in both
4. Reverse shackle, stock lift, front kit from IH Parts America, Spring Over Axle.
5. Outboard the rear spring hangers and use possibly Ford Ranger rear springs? Open to suggestions...
6. 35/12.5R17 tires on 17x9" Slot Mags - US MAG 6 lugs
7. Cage to be built from one of the kits offered, I can't remember the brand but they have a main hoop with the 2 back down bars that looks good. I will bend up something for the front as I want to run it forward to the windshield but I plan to scallop the sides of the dash to get the bars up near the A Pillars as they make their way to the floor/frame.
8. 20 gallon basic fuel cell between the rear frame rails.
9. Stock seats done up nice.
"If" this ever see's a dirt road it will most likely be a friends rural driveway but it may see a fire trail at one point in it's future. Who knows... It's more about checking the box for my wife and letting her hair blow in the wind. Wish me luck! I have managed to buy a near MINT hood and a killer set of doors to save time on body work. It will have a shiny paint job and will have very good fit and finish. That's kinda my thing that I have used on my other projects but I have yet to venture into the 4X4 world. It's been Dragsters, SquareBody Chevy's and a few 32 Fords along the way.
Thanks for such an awesome forum and I look forward to sharing progress as we inch along.
