New wheels and tires

My 73 Scout 2 with a four inch lift had it's wheels and tires stolen at the mechanics shop. The shop is covering the replacements. Any advice on how big I can go with my replacement tires without having them rub???

That's a loaded question, cause there are lots of different factors that come in to play. What kind of springs/manufacturer, are the springs new or old/saggin, any body lift, back spacing on rims, just driving around of flexed out, bump stops.

What size did you have on before?

Don't know the spring brand, but they are old and will be replace. Has a 4 inch lift with no back spacing. Looking at putting the reverse shackle kit. I think I originally has 31's on it. Looking at getting it pismo beach ready...

Back spacing has to do with the wheels.

With no trimming of the fenders 31's are what you want. If ya trim the fenders some, 33's will work.

4" lift springs, a 1" body lift with new bushings and setting your bump stops properly and I'd run 33 x 12.5's on a 3.5 to 4" back-spacing rim.

Will look good and like I said, if you set your bump stops correctly, you should have no fender to tire issue. If you do, much of it can be fixed with a careful application of a hammer or mallet.

For guaranteed no rub, go with the 31's, or even 32's. A skinny 33 is also a good choice but imho looks funny and not so good for the beach/sand.

Add a 3" body lift instead and 35's are out of the realm of possibility, expectantly in the sand/beach crawler.
