New to the sight and sorta new to scouts. Im 20 and I have been wheelin since I was 16. I started with a 1990 suburban on 38s, I rolled it on my way to school one morning. Then I down sized to a Chevy tahoe w/ 6" lift and 33s, lasted me untill about a year and a half ago when the head gasket went out, it had 336k miles on the original motor so I cannot complain. Sence then I moved on to toyotas I have have a 1985 pu full on rock crawler w/ dual tcases, detroits front back and 36s with alot more stuff. I have also have a 1989 ext cab pu, a 1995 ext cab pu, and my current project a 1990 4runner. But I wanted somthing that isnt as common on the trails as a Jeep or toyota so I picked up this 1968 IH 800, my Dad had an 80 when I was a kid and I loved that thing, it went every where and it still does one of his buddys has it and uses it as a hunting rig near hollister hills.
Well enouth of that lets get on to the current Scout. Its a v8/3-speed, it has crappy centerline solid wheels on it with bald and flat 33" swampers, a very poorly done SOA, and it needs a carb
this is the only pic I have right now but ill try to get more soon

Welcome to the site!! Well the Scout is a great vehicle to 4 wheel in! I would still rebuild the 345, if that is what is in it,go with the 4 speed manual, and you will have a great running vehicle for the next 300k!!!

Thanks man, ya im pretty sure it has the 345 in it and I have a 4 speed out of a newer Scout II, the only thing the Scout needs to be in running condition is a carb, but its a long way off from being drivable.

When the guy did the SOA he didnt do any thing to the stearing so when you try to turn it bends the tie rod because of the steep angle and it gets bump steer real bad, im probably just gonna use a z bar for now untell I get all the stuff to do a x-over set up w/ pwr steering or hydro assist set up. The second major thing it need fixed befor it hits the road is the brakes it gets some pretty bad brake steer, im gonna put a new master cyl and new brake lines on it and if that doesnt fix it im gonna get new wheel cylinders. Then there is just minor things like tires, wireing the tail lights, and I just found out some one shot my wind shield with a bb gun 3 times so im gonna need one of those eventualy.

As far as the brakes go bleed the brakes, who know if the po ever did, since you have to change the brakes anyway it cant hurt

Thanks, im probably going to go with a 35-37" mtr not sure yet tho but im going bigger than 33s. My fenders have been clearenced and rolled so there is alot more room.
I eventually want to be on 38s with Chevy one ton axles, I have the axles and h1 double beadlock rims.
Im going hunting this week end but when I get back ill take some more pics.
