Finally a steering stabilizer kit that matches those awesome Bilstein shocks with hi quality CPT brackets that are coated in a rust preventing gold nickle coating.

For Scout II with Dana 30 or 44 front axle and stock spring under axle suspension.

Is the dust boot cover included in this kit??...

Although one does come with the stabilizer it is not recommended that it is used. We found the boot gets bunched up when collapsed and catches on the ubolt heads.
 
Will there be kit for the 80 and 800.

We're hoping the current mounting brackets with a different stabilizer part number will work on the Scout 80 and 800's. Once we get a chance to test one out we will post up if or when we are successful.
 
Just purchased this stabilizer for my 79 Scout II but there are no installation instructions. I know it is probably dirt simply but a couple lines would help eliminate the guess work, like position of the fixed bracket and locating the bracket on the steering linkage.
 
Another question regarding the steering stabilizer. We tow the 79 Scout II behind our motorhome. When its towed the sterring wheel is unlocked so the front wheels can turn as the motorhome turns. I have noticed on long trips (Alaska) that the front tires start "cupping" on the inside of the tire tread. I made an assumption that with the steering wheel unlocked the tires maybe "hunting" or oscillating as it is towed and creates the cupping which gets worse the more miles it is towed. The steering stabilizer seems to have pressure in one direction. Will that tend to force the unlocked steering wheel to the right as it is towed? Or maybe just keeps enough pressure one direction to eliminate the oscillating?
 
Install the axle bracket next to the driver side knuckle. Mount the tierod bracket to roughly the center of the tierod but leave loose. Turn wheels all the way to the right. Install the stabilizer in its fully extended position. Tighten the tierod bracket. Turn wheels all the way to the left and make sure the stabilizer is not bottoming out or that anything is interfering in the turning of the Scout.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you on your second question as we haven't tried the product with this type of use in mind. I would not think in a towing situation that the stabilizer will make the vehicle turn, but i guess anything is possible. I searched on Bilsteins website and came up with nothing on this subject.

Why not invest in a dolly or a car trailer? seems like a lot of wear and tear on an old vehicle for not much benefit.
 
Just got mine Saturday 08MAY21, put it on today 09MAY21 .... a 3x5 with the install instructions or tips would have been awesome! Even a

what is the "full extended" length of the stabilizer? and have you had any issues with it bottoming out when fully compressed to the left? The reason for asking is that I have heard that they do bottom out when "almost" full turn to left. Please advise.

Damper's are measured by their travel, which is 9".

If the damper is bottoming out on only one side then that tells me it wasn't centered correctly.
 
Hi, Alan here. I have acquired a 1974 IH 200 truck with a flatbed, the 392 engine, 4x4 with 3 speed automatic. I would like to replace or upgrade some parts and wanted to reach out to you about really all of the parts.
Would this Bilstein stabilizer be an addon requiring modification or welding? Do you have stock Bilstein shocks that would fit my IH 200? Also, do you have access to the rear-dump exhaust manifolds or headers that would fit?

This steering stabilizer should also fit your truck. As for the other requested parts, I would suggest contacting our parts department for availability and pricing.
