New but loose front cam bearing.

Hi

I recieved my cam bearings.

I am having them professionally installed at a reputable engine engineering shop.
(Not a general mechanic)
He called me today and said after he finished fitting the bearings and inspecting the fittment that the front bearing feels loose and came back out far too easily.

He said he checked the hole the bearings sit in and it was round and not worn.

He believes that one wrong bearing was supplied.

They are the durabond (sp?) brand.

Any thoughts?

Never had this problem before and we sell alot of Durabond cam bearing sets for these engines. I believe Durabond should have a part number for each bearing shell as each one was sized differently. what part number is on the shell that is giving you trouble?

Your mechanic said he checked the bore for roundness, but did he check it's overall diameter and see if it is in specification?

I have an email reply from Michael. But the shop just sent me this.

front cam shaft journal size 2.098.
front cam shaft tunnel size 2.233.
Bearing OD 2.232
