Thanks Jeff....I've got the 1904 from a 196 at m
y carb guy's shop right now and hopefully he'll have it done soon. In the meantime I've got a 1904 from I think a Ford on the 196 engine. This carb has the choke lever reversed so I had bring the choke cable in from the front of the carb. The carb seemed to work ok, car started and idled, some acceleration issues, but over all did ok.
It started running rough and now I cannot get the thing started at all. Checked the plugs and they are wet with gas.....changed out the main jet to a 67 from a 70, but still no start. The engine tries to start but will not actually run.
Can anyone tell me what the main jet size should be on the 1904 for a 196? Also, what is the range of the settings for the idle mixture screw (currently set at about 1 1/2 turns out)?
