Need help identifying this Scout

Grandpa got this for me, and it’s a build for sure. I haven’t put eyes on it but he sent me this picture. Can anyone tell year, model, anything will help. I want to get it in a shop in SoCal and get it started. Thanks for any help ahead of time.

That's a beauty! Definatlty hop on the IH store and order a line setting ticket (LST). This is basically a build sheet and will tell you everything from what axles it came with, to the date it left the assembly line, to where they shipped it to. Its well worth it, all be it they are sometimes hard to read. I'm not as familiar with the 4 cylinders, but if you have a v8 your serial# and displacement will be on a protrusion under the exhaust manifold, pass side toward the alternator. Also might I suggest, since you will no doubt be going through alot of it, start yourself a build thread under sewing circle>reader's rides. Every frustrating thing you figure out will help the next guy in line, its also great to look back and see how far it's come! Good luck!
