My 75 Scout build

My name is blake noriega I am 19 and will be starting the diesel tech program in March. I will be taking the motorsports fabrication course where I learn to weld with all kinds of welding, fabricating frames, and advanced suspension and roll cages. I bought my 1975 IH Scout in July of 2009 and have a good bit of work done so far. I paid 400 dollars for it from a buddy of mine but it was rough.

Engine 78 dodge 360

trans stock 75 IH Scout 727

t-case Dana 20

rears Dana 44 f/r

future plans:

I eventually want to get the 4 inch CPT long travel reverse shackle kit with the 5 inch dog leg shackle, and a set of Rough Country leafs with 5 inch tera flex shackles on the rear. I also want to do a 2 inch body lift and the long travel cv drive shafts connecting into a set of spidertrax 9’s with 4.88 gears and I would also like to drop the engine, trans and t-case about 3 inches to help weight distribution.

These are a mix of pictures I got when my friend originally asked me if I would like to buy it and pictures I took when I first took a look at it.

Yes the person who owned it before my friend reports someone running into the side of the door with a fork lift. The rear quarter could use some work too

A little passenger side fender damage but not bad. God I love the way the hood opens up!!! It just screams awesome.

attachment.php

After my boss and I towed it from my friend’s house it spent some time at another friends place till I could find a good place to work on it, but wow those 31’s look wimpy.

After moving it to my boss’s house and doing a tune up we started getting ready with my engine hoist to do some real work. But some fresh oil gas plugs and wires it fired right up but the further we pulled into it the worse it got.

attachment.php

Threw a 35 on the front to see what it will take to run these all around. It clears the leafs and everything fine just it need a lot of lift.

Yeah we couldn’t get it to fit on the rear lol but oh well.

Looks good lol, but it was not fun pulling a dodge 360 with a 727 trans out as 1 unit in dirt.

attachment.php

A picture of the inside of the truck there was just some junkyard garbage bench seat in it so it’s gone now. So it is just full of my timing chain cover I got on ebay that was off of a 71 dart and tools.

attachment.php

The first part I got, it is a tci sizzler torque converter with a 1700 stall.
attachment.php

The torque converter mated up to the all rebuilt 727 transmission

attachment.php

The heaviest transmission cooler that I could find and despite my skinny wrists I do have big hands so this thing is big and this thing really is as heavy duty as it gets.

attachment.php

My 2 core all aluminum racing radiator with 1” cores it’s the biggest I could fit in the stock opening for the Scout.

attachment.php

My jegs headers

attachment.php

The 3” h pipe.

attachment.php

This equalizer is no joke.

attachment.php

The intake is about the best I could get… it is an edelbrock rpm performer air gap made for a power range of 1500 to 6000.

attachment.php

attachment.php

A pair of 3” flowmasters outlaw series mufflers (supposed to be race only but we just won’t tell the cops)

attachment.php

Yeah you can see why they are not street legal, there is almost no restriction. But no I will not be keeping it an all 3 inch I am taking it down to a 2.5

My msd high vibration blaster series coil

After painting up the timing chain cover.

attachment.php

The oil pan looks pretty cool too.
attachment.php

These are not half of the parts that I have gotten. I have replaced the oil pickup, oil pump, cam, cam bearings, rod and main bearings, crank, every gasket, valve covers, rebuilt the t-case, and replaced the booster, master cylinder and new brake calipers. I have about 3000 invested so far and still have a lot more to go.

Just e-mail me at mrblaken@gmail.com If you have any questions comments or concerns or by all means post them on here.

Keep checking in am working on my Scout at least twice a week for long periods of time at a time.

Looks like you have a good start getting that binder back on the road. Love seeing all the new goodies. Good luck at school. Make sure you convert all the other students into bender techs.:winky:

It has been a few years due to school and life but my Scout is under to wrench yet again and ready for love. Some update pics of last weekend. And yes last 2 pics are a sad and funny attempt of moving body outside lol
