moving springs out???

Ok I've searched and not found anything on this and figured I would try and ask a question. If I wanted to do SOA on front d44 of 78 Scout II what probelms would I encounter by moving spring pearches outside of frame? Would it affect steering linkages? Has anyone seen it done before? The pearches would be welded to the outside of frame with gussets added for support. My reasoning is that I would think the pass side spring pearch would do better on axle tube instead of housing and it would save from grinding on housing.. I plan on SOA w/ rs and just throwing out a idea...

Unless you are going with an axle that is wider than a full width axle or with some extremely offset wheels you will have very little room to turn before the tires encounter the leaf springs.

Thanks for the quick reply, I didn't think of
the wheels as the obvious problem. I was
thinking steering issues because of linkages.
