The 1980 scout2 I purchased 3 yrs ago for a parts wagon donated what appears to be a dealer installed a/c unit. After pondering and just not ever doin it , I finally removed all the shizz off the 80 for a go thru and installation on my 74.
After a thorough coil clean , flushing of the evap. Makin of some metal pieces to replace rusted stuff and removal of 20 yrs of rat nest, I got the system rigged on the table and hooked up to the compressor. After the first run at pressure testing with nitrogen, I found the rear bearing support for the comp. Leakin like hell. I removed the plate cleaned her up with some emory cloth to remove all the corrosion holdin her off the seal. Clened up the oring and applied a thin bead of leak/lock to the flange.
Hooked up the nitrogen again and pumped her to 325lbs. And the lucky part. Its been holdin that for 16 hours. I'd say its good I hope.
The only thing im worrying on is the txv. It's a 3/8 x1/2 oring type thats internally equalized. The only ones I can find here are external equalized. I want to replace it, so if anyone has a part number let me know thanks brad
