I just got my first Scout bout 3 months ago and I am trying to rebuild my carb. Its a 74 Scout 2 with 345 4x2 auto. I just found that someone before me make the acc. Pump bracket and the linkage that goes to it. If anyone know where I can get the bracket and the linkage please let me know thanks or ifs that to hard to find where I can get a holley2300 list 7448 cheap thanks dj
 
We need pics of what you have now. Also need the IH p/n and Holley list number that will stamped on the front of the fuel bowl/main body for correct I.d. That is the only way to know what might be missing, what is botched, and what can be done to correct the situation. There are many variations of the 22xx carb series used in IH light line apps between 1972 and 1980, this is not simple, and a situation where "they are all the same" due to emissions variations and configurations.

As for a replacement/upgrade 2300 carb, if you take all items needed into consideration to do this correctly, I seriously doubt that you can beat the price that we have here at ihon for the entire kit. They carb will be completely assembled with electric choke if ordered, jetted, and be complete with gaskets needed.

Your oem air filter housing for a 22xx carb will not fit the Holley 7448 carb as it uses the industry-standard 5-1/8" air horn.
 
Thanks I want to go with the 2300 upgrade. What do I need to do or contact to get the ball rolling. Just let me know what I need to do.

Dont have the cash to shell out right now for the kit. I did get a 2300 7448 but I am unsure what else I will need. Is this the right air horn ??

And the new one has a electric choke I need to convert it over. Do I just unhook the old linkage?? And what do I hook the wire up to. I am a tech but I work in newer cars so carbs are not my thing, before my time. Any way any help would be great. Sorry I just cant buy the kit from you guys just had a kid and bought the Scout. Lol so just one thing at a time till I get it right. Thanks
 
Drop base air cleaner won't work on an sv motor, it will hit the water neck. A flat base will clear the neck (barely), and an "offset" base which moves the package to the rear is best. And it should be a 2">3" nominal height unless you have a body lift or a functional hood scoop.

The electric choke feed should be a ignition-switched b+ only, do not connect to the positive terminal on the ignition coil. Current to the choke heater must be continuous when the engine is running.

The throttle cable connection point May be easily set up by moving the ball stud from the oem carb to the replacement and mounting in roughly the same plane so that the cable pulls straight back and not at an angle. The oem ball stud is "special" in that it has a shoulder on it to accommodate the kickdown link so it can slide, that is very important that it be duplicated on the replacement. The throttle cable and the kickdown link must be parallel.
 
I got the carb and I am tryin to set up the vacum lines I have 5 off the old carb and only inlets on the new carb, which do I hook up 2 go to the vacum mod. On the fire wall. Whick do u plug off and which do I hook up thanks
 
The Holley 0-7448 version of the 2300 series is in no way/shape/form an "emissions" carb like your oem mixer. By choosing to run this carb, you have moved into the "performance" tuning arena.

It has two vacuum ports, the 5/32" nipple on the side of the metering block is ported/timed vacuum, approximately 3>5"hg vacuum at a curb idle of 700rpm. That should be used for the distributor vacuum connection.

Since you won't be "smogging" this vehicle, none of the rest of the vacuum actuated items will be returned to service. That includes disabling the egr also.

Depending upon which intake manifold variation you have, the 3/8" vacuum port on the rear (some are on the side) of the carb base is a manifold vacuum signal and is used for connecting the pcv system and/or the vacuum booster for the brakes.
