Longshot question- Dana 44 gears interchangeability

I have a 73 Travelall 4x4 with a swapped in front Dana 44 from a 78 Chevy.
The original IH axle was a closed knuckle, drum brake Dana 44.
I saved the ring and pinion from the original.
The Chevy axle has a different ratio.

What are the odds that the original r/p from the closed knuckle IH Dana 44 will fit in the disc brake Chevy Dana 44?

I'm hoping that a 44 is a 44 and the r/p will fit both.

I want the front to match the rear again.

Thanks

The only differences that I know of are the side gears for the axle in the carrier, r&p shouldn't be an issue.

There are 2 carriers for the d44 below 4:11 and above. As long as the gears are within the same range they should swap.

Thanks for the help, I think I'm ok with what I have. I didn't want to have to buy a new r/p set.

Thank you.

Just make sure you get them shimmed properly. The ring in the rear axle lost a couple of teeth before I got it. When I changed the fluid, it knocked them loose and the fragments went through the inner pinion bearing. I took a ring and pinion from a Chevy at the wrecker along with the pinion bearings and races. I had to calculate the difference in the pinion shims based on the stampings in the original and replacement pinions and adjust the shims. It was close but I ended up having to add a bit extra to get a good pattern. That was a Dana 60, but the 44 is similar.
