Long Travel Front Driveshaft

Hey all,
I have an extra set of drive shafts.
The truck has the stock drivetrane, 304 and 727.
Can I turn the pair into a legitimate long travel front for a reverse shackle kit?

I personally wouldn't. Oem shafts seems a bit cheesy at best.

On my 74 when I did SOA and shackle reversal at the same time, I ordered custom shafts, front & rear, from Tom woods.

IHPA does have a long travel shaft available for exactly what you're asking. I haven't tried it yet, but I hear it works well.

When you do the cut n' turn of the front diff the front yoke will be pointed at the t/c. Assuming your doing the cut n' turn, then you'll need a double cardon (cv) joint at the tc and a regular u joint on the axle. Using the double cardon joint will eliminate the vibration that would occur by only haveing 2 u joints on a system where the shafts are not aligned.

I've got most of the parts and plan to make my own when I cross the rs bridge perhaps this spring. But look at how much $$$ you'll save on u joints for that front shaft. I replace mine every 2 years. :-]

When doing a reverse shackle you need to use a long travel driveshaft to avoid compressing the driveline to far and damaging or destroying your t-case.
