Little help with body rot

Hey gang, I’ve acquired a 72 Scout ii and it’s mostly good. Only rot is the rocker panels below doors. Pictures attached. Should I be worried about it? My last two scouts 74’ and 76 (patriot) tonight me a lot and that it’s really not a matter of IF they have rust, but where and how much. Thoughts anybody?

If you already own it, then you're probably not that concerned. Rust never sleeps, so until steps are taken to mitigate it, the rot will continue as time goes on. How long before it get's really bad is tough to say. I've certainly seen much worse. There are people in the rust belt who'd consider that thing to be nearly showroom new. If you could get some rust converter on the inside, that would buy you some time. Were you looking to restore it or just drive it and enjoy it?

Spray a ton of fluid film in the rockers if you can get at them.

Do you plan on cutting that front cage section out? that's some ugly, however functional no doubt.

here is an idea that i have been trying

i use this stuff from AMSOIL https://www.amsoil.com/p/heavy-duty-metal-protector-amhsc/

seems to help i spray the body mounts and any where on the under side of the body that looks like a moisture trap.
