I have a 1962 c130 one ton it has four wires on each side of truck it has on the right side red wire for stop/green for turn/brown for lights right side is red stop/yellow turn/brown lights then it has a white with red stripe its not hot or a ground don,t no what it is. Ok I want to hook a pair of Scout tail lights up with two wires on them I am using a 1175 bulb with a bright side and a dim side I tried the turn and stop together on the bright side and the running light to the dim side but the turn lights blink both at the same time right and left then when the brake lights come on you can,t see the blinker I switched them around just can,t get it right any help please

You're dealing with too many wires. For the rear lights with dual filament bulbs, only three wires are required. One for tail lights that goes to the dim bulb filament of both sides, a left turn signal and a right turn signal. That's it. The turn signal lights go to the bright bulb filaments on the corresponding sides. The turn signal wires also carry the current for the brake lights, since the brake light feed passes through the turn signal switch in the steering wheel. This is how one bulb is able to flash while one stays on solid when the brake pedal is depressed with the turn signal applied. You should really consult a wiring diagram in the factory service manual to get a better understanding of how the rear harness circuitry works. But bottom line is it won't work properly with the collection of wires you're attempting to blend. You're making things too complicated.

Thank you thats what I though only the turn is not hot when brake is on I hooked them up the way you said.so maybe its in the steering wheel but I dont have a manual or wiring diagram but I will pull the wheel an look for the brake wire.maybe it was replaced this was a town truck before I got it and we all no how they do things fire / rescue maybe they added more lights flashers? Any one got a wiring diagram that shows where on the wheel turn switch the brake wire goes

I went back to the way I had it I use a two blub truck light it works I,ll for get about the Scout light for now thanks
