Lifters

Thanks, should I place the order, to get in the que?

(I have a lifter that ticks on startup, cold weather and I figure it is time to deal with it. I am going to pull the lifters to check for wear, but at this point, it seems to only be a single lifter, based on sound)

I just noticed 3 box's of eight(4cyl sets) were in stock so I do have enough for one v8 engine. If you place your order early enough today we May still be able to ship them out today.

Technical Question:

345 basic engine valve lifters. How does one test for "leak down"? I am guessing that you need a valve lifter compressor? Or is it doable by hand? I see that the IH shop manual shows a bench machine/press for that purpose.

I am putting my 79 traveler 345 back together and its been sitting for quite a while. I wanted to check the lifters for any binding/weakness. I tried to compress one of the lifters by hand - no go! Are they that stiff/firm that you need a compressor? Please and thanks.

Thank you.
