Lift Gate Lock Parts

Hi,
I need some help on my lift gate lock. I just got my lock set from Jeff and am working on the lift gate first. I am having a problem getting the lock cylinder out of the handle and am wondering what to do or if I have the wrong parts.

1. I removed the two screws holding the handle to the lift gate.
2. I drove out the small pin holding the rectangular stud and the retaining ring.
3. I removed the stud, the retaining ring, the spring washer, and the plate that the handle fits into.
4. I drove out the barbell stud from the handle. (I don't see inside where this does anything.)

the new cylinder in the bottom of the pictures is my new one. I can't get the old one out. Any ideas on how to get out the old one or if I have some wrong parts (new or old)?

Thanks

What you have there does not appear to be a stock t-handle therefore that lock cylinder will not work.

Ok, the part I have is actually from a place that sells Scout parts up in oregon. The t-handle is $100. The key was broken off inside so I can't pull the tumbler. And if I could a local locksmith wants $25 to rekey it. But... Apparently a garage door handle is supposed to work. So I picked up a few to compare.

Truevalue, around $13
lowes, around $9
home depot, around $9

I could just cut off the long shaft to the right length or I could drive out the retaining pin and reuse my old one. The lowes retainer is kinda cheesy so I don't think I'll use it. The lowes and depot handles look to be the same part and the depot and tvalue cover plates look to be the same part. I May also see if I can use my old cover plate since it is rectangular and will match the wear marks on the lift gate.

I'll post after I get it back on and working.

What they are selling is a garage door handle mounted onto an adapter plate. It's a decent replacement part but will not allow you to have all matching keys. I guess if you still want all matching keys see what phil coonrod wants for a decent stock tee handle and install the new matching lock cylinder.

I'd like to have matching keys, but funds are prohibitive at the moment and I already have the other aftermarket parts. I called phil and with the cost of the stock handle and a rekey I'd be around $80.

I ended up using the true value handle, taking it apart, using my existing mount plate and square stud on it and it works like new. The lowes handle assembles different so couldn't use it. The home depot handle I couldn't get the square stud out of it to use it either.

So, if you have one of those oregon sourced aftermarket lift gate t-handles and have lost your key or broken one off inside it, you can replace the handle with a $13 garage door t-handle from true value.
