73 IH Scout II - piecing scout back together. My license plate light (non - original) is blinking with both turn signals. Is plugged into the correct hole in connector. What could cause this? Also, marker lights also flash with turn signal. Have checked all light fixture grounds. bulkhead connectors look fine. Thanks.

when i had bad grounds on my tail l light circuits a lot of strange things went on back there, such as reverse lights flashing, brake lights not working, blinkers half blinking. never license plate blinking thought.
i would double check those tail light grounds, and what ever grounds the license plate light. i know you checked them, but the tail lights ground to the body and are very easy to get a half bad ground.

I had similar issues when I had replacement LED tail lights that were bad. When the headlights and taillights were on, the right turn signal would make the brake lights flash on both sides and both turn signals up front flash. Putting in regular incandescent tail lights fixed it. Somehow the dim and bright LEDs were shorted together inside the LED bulb. Sadly I figured that out after re-wiring the whole truck.
It sounds like there’s some kind of grounding issue or a wiring mix-up causing your lights to behave like that. Even though you mentioned checking all the light fixture grounds, I’d suggest double-checking to make sure each light has a solid, dedicated ground connection. A weak or shared ground can cause weird behavior like blinking license plate or marker lights with the turn signals.
