LHD to RHD 4wheel drive system

I'm looking at purchasing two 1974 scouts. One is an australian right hand drive (rhd) 2 wheel drive in good condition and the other is a lhd 4x4 that would be used for parts.

My question: is it possible to take the 4wheel drive system off of a left hand drive (lhd) Scout and put it on to a rhd Scout? If so, any idea at what I'm looking at moving over? Transfer case? Front and rear axels?

Thanks,

Yes you can turn the 2wd rhd into a 4wd. You would need to swap the front axle, transmission, transfer case, front and rear driveshaft, and the trans tunnel cover. Depending on the gear ratios the rear axle May need to be swapped so that it matches the front. You will need to use the rhd drag link, but both axles are set up for rhd or lhd. A fairly straight forward, bolt on deal.

The 2wd front axle uses the same steering knuckles, spindles, and brake parts so they can be kept as spares. You do need to knock the cup plug out of the 2wd spindle and install a spindle bearing however to convert it for 4wd use.

Thanks eric. I'm still debating whether or not to take the project on but it's good to know it can be done.
