Anyone know if a Jeep Dana 300 short out put shaft housing will replace a Scout Dana 300 out put shaft tail housing? More interchangeable parts for Jeep tail shaft housing.

I'd call novak, this is pretty much there specialty, beleive they even make one with a beefier shaft if you have the coinage.

I believe the 1980 Jeep case will work but from 1981-86' they had a different bolt pattern for the tail housing. As hondo said novak would be a good source for more definitive information as well as advance adapters.

Advanced adapters has an upgrade for the rear output of the Scout d-20. I have one installed on one mine. Don't recall if they have one for the front output or not

Novak did not have any experience or info in this matter. Advance adapters does have a short shaft Jeep replacement that claims to fit on a Scout Dana 300. So what I've gathered I guess I can get a transfer case brake kit for a short shaft Jeep Dana 300 from high angle driveline and get a tail housing from a 1980 Jeep Dana 300 short shaft. Thanks for the input guys, hope this works out.

I can verify the short shaft Dana 300 kit advances sells does fit a Scout Dana 300. Installed mine a month or two ago. Love it.

You will also need to shorten your rear driveshaft about 1 2/2 inches if you go with the aa d300 rear output assembly, it's more than a tad bigger.

+1 on what hondo said. I think mine came out to needing to be shortenedshortened like 1 5/8"s but oh so beefy
