Isuzu 4bd1T Diesel in Scout 2

I have a freshly rebuilt isuzu 4bd1 turbo 3.9 diesel engine and a rebuilt transmission that I'm considering putting in a 72 Scout 2. The Scout doesn't currently have an engine and I have more money in the isuzu engine and trans than I'll get out of it.
Wondering if it's a going to be a good idea??? Or is it going to be more of a pain than it's worth? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Probably a worthy swap in. The 4bt is a diesel that is regularly installed. Measure twice, cut and paste once.

Won't be a rocket ship, but neither was the Nissan equipped Scout II.

Thanks Robert, I was thinking it would be similar to the Nissan diesel and make a smooth cruiser for the family! Don't want to let my son drive a rocket ship!

I would recommend recalculating your rpm @ cruise mph. The diesel will like a much lower rpm and taller gear. Plan on a r&p change.
Cruise at peak torque which is from what I read 1800rpm.
