iQuestion about replacing cam bearings..

I've owned my scout for 30 years bought it from the original owner in Texas, back in 96 I did an oil change and noticed the slightest amount of cam-bearing particles in my oil. Since that time I've never had an issue with oiling or oil pressure. The truck probably has 90K on it, It doesn't get driven much but I'm thinking of using it more and wanted to ask the experts on here if I drop the bottom end to do cam bearings should I install new main bearings and up top new lifters and Cam? I don't want to tear it down and do a re-build as I really don't have the space to do it. Ideas?

I would have a look at one rod and one main. All looks good? Just replace the cam bearings. If the cam looks good, you can reuse it. Make sure each lifter go in the same hole.

I just tore apart a 345 that had every cam bearing delaminated. They still run with OK oil pressure, however you run the risk of the timing gears stripping or skipping eventually at any given time.

Yea, one of mine chipped the tops off of about 5 of the big cam gear teeth. I'd guess that when the bearing delaminated it seized up for a bit. It still ran fine, but had a new noise. Finally died, or at least I thought it did, when a valve spring broke.
