I currently have a front and rear Dana 44 with 3.73s and I am wanting to upgrade to a set of 4.56s the thick set. Will the new gears fit in my carrier? And what all do I need to do this job correctly? Thanks

I think you're sol on that idea. You need a carrier from a 3.92 and up gear ratio to do what you propose.

Looks possible but not cheap. I'd hunt around for a used carrier and get standard 4.56's.

Only about $40 (retail) more or so than a standard set of 4.56's. If you have lockers, then probably worth it, if you just have open carries, well borderline a wash depending on what deal you can get on a set of 4-series carriers.


Going to be a re-setup no mater what.

I'd shop for used carriers and buy new gears. If you are going to pay someone to setup the gears - they will thank you for bringing them new gears...
