IHPA Scout II Sunvisor Installation

Am I missing some sort of trick on installing these on the stock Scout II visor rods? I can't get these to slip on at all!
 
Please provide us with some pictures of both the visors and the rods so we can assist you on what might be going wrong.
 
I bought new sun visors and rods. The visor slips onto the rod smoothly but there is not enough retention to keep the visor up?
