IH Truck axles question.

Are the trucks the same width or able to swap into a Scout II. I got a friend that has several trucks he claims has a 44 out front and a 60 full float out back and spring over. To much work? I am still waiting on a guy for both 44's.
Thanks

Dana/spicer axles used in pickall rigs back in the day were somewhat wider than Scout II. But are a very popular item for swap into a Scout II with a simple spring perch relocation.

Pickall steering axles could be "closed knuckle" versions however (open knuckle after mid-'72), nothing wrong with those other than the fact that steering radius is somewhat limited as compared to the later open knuckle stuff...but that is relative.

I just finished intalling t-all axles under my terra Scout and I love them. I did the cut and turn and relocated the perches. I also have the rear Dana 60 (semi float) 5 lug axle that matches the 5 lug front 44.

You realize all you get from the 60, is a Dana 60 center section. Everything else is Dana 44, from there on out.

Yep. Did it for several reasons. 1. Full width 2. I have more gear ration options to pick from in my collection of d60 stuff. 3. Retain 5.5 bolt pattern 4. I had them laying around

but thanks for sharing your familiarity of the 74-75 hd axles with us.

Ok I finally comitted to an axle. While I was waiting for this guy to get back to me with 44s from a later year Scout. I went to my local gear shop and he had a 44 out of a mid 80's Chevy with 4:10's in it and it is ready to bolt in minus the rotors. So should I keep full width and what would be a good match for rear? He has a 60 with 4:10's that he thinks would be good. Would that be a good fit? As far as my use for the Scout it will be mostly offroad and some on road so my buddy said keep full width. Also planning on 35" tires and keeping 345 with 727 for now.

As always thanks for all your input.
