Ignominious Death on the Freeway

Doh!! Bummer dude. Were ya trying to find a good fishing spot or what? As in an IH boat anchor - lol just kidding.

Sounds like ya sucked water into the cylinder and bent the rod while rotating into the compression stroke.

Depending how bad the wear damage is, your looken at boring out the cylinders, and 8 new over sized slugs. Basically a complete rebuild. Worse case senerio, if the wear is beyond the normal range of over size pistons then you're looken at a new block too.

I had a subaru 4wd wagon once that tried to float down the hoh river and out into the pacific, but that is a different sotry.

As noted, scouts do not float. When the Scout sank, I was playing in a mud hole at an off road park, so I did not even get a fish out of the deal.

Visually, the bore does not look too bad. Pig iron must be harder than aluminum piston. The rest of the block looks incredibly good. No detectable ridge at the top of the bore, some cross hatch still showing.

Block goes to the machine shop for measurements today.
