Those of you who know me know that I have a problem. I buy scouts. Sometimes I don't even need them .:winky: so tonight I'm cruzing craigslist and ebay and it struck me funny how many times I read. "I took it apart to rebuild it" "I have all the parts to fix it" "I ran out of time" "my loss" I found myself laughing more with each post. Are scouts the only victims of this "I thought I was a mechanic" disease? The next most popular comment was "lots of rare hard to find parts" and "ran when parked"....

The statements posted in them ads simply mean someone had training in "marketing" and now has no job so they can use those skills (if ya call 'em "skills")!

You know all about that marketing thang doncha????

Ya rarely see those kinda pimps used when dealing with old chevs/fords...that is 'cause those folks know that shit has "value". And folks like "classic industries" and "year one" created that market!

We have become our own worst enemy regarding the IH stuff 'cause we don't assign any "value" to this shit, we treat it as scrap metal in most cases. But then...that is what allows folks like yoreself to pick up all this scrap metal for next ta nuthin' even when scrap prices were high!!!

This ain't gonna last much longer though...once the big guns start seeing they can snake IH schnizz for the price of haulin' it away, then it'll be all over for the rest of us. That's happenin' right now with s80 and s800. Put cash into those rigs...once yore 401k is gone thanks to the gummint....it's gone. At least with dealin' in s80 and s800...ya still have the "scrap" option...prices will rebound once porkulus tanks by the end of the year.

I agree completly. Well completly with what I could understand....:dita:

I'm even starting to get better prices out of Scout II stuff...:winky:

another one in this area. After you posted this I started looking at yeah it's pretty funny how many I have seen.

1978 Scout II

We should go get that. I'd expect it has a hack SOA but being a 75' makes it worth all the while. As my procurement officer find out what it will take to procure this.:icon_mrgreen:

I second the motion. That's good property right there....:winky: the new wiring harness is a bonus. It May even have lift springs. Body looks straight. The good early sheet metal. What are you waiting for? Take $700 cash and go buy that sucker... he won't get any more unless he puts it back together more.

He's not serious enough about selling it, plus it is a 78 so not as valuble. Told him to give me a call when he is within reason on his price. We'll see what happens.
