I have a running scout

I have been trying to finish all the small things now. Here are some random shots of how it sits now. I swapped out the narrow stock springs to some 4" Chevy front leaves. I was able to move my axle back 1 1/2" so I could use my stock rear shaft without having to cut it down. I moved the drivetrain back 2.5" to make room for the lincoln electric fan. With it up on stands I can start it put it in gear and the tires spin, which is a good sign. I need to bleed the brakes and finish the steering so I can take it for a spin around the house.

Reverse was not working in the tranny, so I guess it is a good thing I am a pack rat and had 2 spares in the garage. I got the "new" one in and started up the Scout and ran it through the gears. This one seems fine.

Drove by your place back in July & was wondering what you were up to. Looks like you ben buisy. So is it on the road yet ? Missed you at the raly. Scout looks good . :yesnod: p.s. Whos doing your welding it look prety clean.

I had to pull the tranny and swap it out, so that slowed my process just a bit. I am hoping to drive it around the yard this week. And, I do al my own welding.

Not that it needed to be done, but I was given some pimp stainless struts so I mounted 1 to the hood. Scout hoods are dumb because they can only be lowered from the passenger side to release the latch. Now I can close it from either side.

I like the ss strut:icon_up:

hey I see you have seats. You never did come by and get those seats I have. I going to put them on craigs list and get rid of them as I need the room.

I forgot about them to tell you the truth. Were they factory buckets with bases?

No bases, they are buckets vinyl covered, but not factory. They look to be out of an older big car. They came in my Scout, the guy took out the factory buckets and put them in there. Since he still had the factory buckets I put those back in.

Ok, I think I will pass on them, thanks though. If I need to make bases I will use the seats I have.

I farted around with it for a bit today and got all the lights working. I ended up using some of the oval trailer lights for my tail lights. I just could not justify spending $85 each for new rear lenses that will probably end up broken anyways.

My rear bumper is just about done. I just need to clean off the splatter and paint it. It wraps around the corners and will have some spreaders bolted from the outriggers to the frame.

Been working on this trying to tie up all the loose ends. Here is the new bumper. There are 7 1/2" bolts holding it on. 3 horizontal and 4 vertical, I do not think it will get torn off in a hard pull.

I need to push the front end out a bit so the tires clear the firewall when I turn to full lock. It is easier to trim the front of the fenders then the rear of them.

That is with the bumpstops. I re-did the mounts today and moved the axle 2" forward.wheel base now is 105ish
