Hydroboost Brakes

Hello,

I have a '67 800 and am in the process of installing power brakes; refurb'd sii steering box and an aftermarket pump with a hydroboost return. I wanted to add hydroboost to the brakes; recently put on new discs in the front along with a new mc. Does anyone have any recommendations / suggestions on a good hydroboost kit?

Thanks!
Grant

For a direct bolt on, the only thing that comes to mind is vanco brakes. They have a kit for the Scout II's. But not sure about the 800.

If ya haven't thought of it yet, a proportioning valve for the new brake setup.

Also, for a diy setup for hydro I heard was parts from like an astro mini van

I've been working on that very project for my Scout II. I found a guy on ebay that sells the whole kit, or just the bracket if you want to piece it together yourself. You can email him at sterlingworth16@yahoo.com. He makes brackets for a lot of different applications. I opted for the bracket. Was top quality workmanship. Got the hydroboost from a salvage yard, 97 Chevy 1 ton for $37. Astro vans have them too. I used a pump from a 2004 Chevy silverado, as it had the extra return line. Put a new pressed on pully that lined up nicely to the original crank pulley. It is a tight fit battery to pump. I am using 2004 silverado hydroboost hoses. The pump to the hydroboost had to be cut and another connection installed to shorten it. I just got the other hose in today. (hydroboost to gearbox) will test fit it tonight. I will have to change the end to fit to the gearbox, (flare nut) but shouldn't be too tricky. I got inspired by someone who has already done this from vacuum brakes. He said there was a huge difference in stopping. I like the more compact fit personally. I would also recommend replacing all your flexible brake lines to the front and back. Pressures are higher. I don't have it all functionable yet. I will be adding disc brakes next off of my parts Scout.

One more thing, I used a master cylinder from a 1980 corvette. At least that is what I had the parts guy look up. I was advised that would work. It is bolted up, again not finished yet. I liked the idea of keeping it cast iron. After all, the rest of it is iron:icon_lol:
