Hybrid shoulder seatbelt for Scout II front seats?

I have been driving my Scout II for many years with just the stock lap belts, but have always preferred 3-point shoulder/lap seatbelts. I know that some have removed the stock lap belts and installed 3-point retracting belts. But I just had an idea, based on experience with cars of the late '60/early '70s: a separate shoulder belt that enables one to use only the stock lap belts, or add the shoulder belt to make a 3-point system.

My concept would use a retracting shoulder belt only, much like the automatic shoulder belts seen in cars of the early '90s that were used in conjunction with manually-fastened lap belts.

Any comments or ideas on this?
 
Might be better off just getting some of those new type seats with the shoulder belts built into the seat itself? Not sure where you would attach the shoulder belt section to the top that its not in the way?
 
I have a repro stock 4-point rollbar installed in the truck, and would use that as an upper anchor point. I have '79 Scout highback bucket-type seats installed (re-covered, too), and I like the current seat profile.
 
I know the military hmmv's and such use a hybrid seatbelt now, it has two pieces, lap and shoulder belts that buckle seperately but into the same lock. They extend from the top for the shoulder, might try looking around online for that? I dont think they are in circulation in the surplus yards yet, but somebody must make them.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I remember some seatbelts from the '70s that worked like that; the lapbelt buckle tab-end had a small keyhole slot in it that a button stud on the metal end of the shoulder belt would fit into.
