hub disassembly

I am rebuilding my warn "premium" hubs with the kit I got from ihon. I got down to separating the hub face and the dial/brass drum and the spring cage. I don't want to force anything. How do you separate the spring cage from the threaded brass drum so as to get the dial out of the hub face? I see a snap ring down under the the spring cage. Is that the key to disassembling these parts?

To dis-assemble the clutch from the dial you need to remove the indexing roll pin that aligns the drive ring. Grip it with a pair of pliers, I like the locking needle nose, a little twist while you pull and it will pop out. Then you can remove the retaining ring, thrust washer and dial.

If you haven't done one before do one at a time so you have the second for reference since there are a number of ways that it can go together not all of them right. Or match Mark the pin and drive ring holes used and drive ring to body with the dial in the free position for quick re-assembly.
