How not to take care of your wheel bearings

I was very lucky this past saturday. I drove to Hungry Valley and back (at 70+ mph) when I noticed some odd noises from front left wheel and steering a little squirrely.
I stated on passenger side as it wiggled the most. I removed the caliper and the whole rotor/hub/lock hub assembly practically fell off into my hands. I am one lucky dude.
The spindle seems OK as well as the stub axle. The lock nut, collar and bearing hub are shot. Next comes driver side.

BTW, I do clean and repack these bearings every once in a while, obviously I need to schedule this in future. I also replace the rear bearings every 1-2 years no matter how they look.

The driver's side. Grease hadn't completely burned off. I thought that I had repacked both sides recently but maybe before IHWR last April....

You got really lucky, I had one go on my scout, pass side. Doing the same speed but it ate the wheel bearings and the spindle/ hub.

My issue was driving through water frequently and not inspecting/ repacking bearings.

I would do them once every other year if you don't frequent water crossings.
