Need more info!
"what" version of a Scout we talkin' here?? Was it originally a four cylinder rig or a v8? What is the chassis number?
Four individual axle codes were used. It could be a spicer 27 or a spicer 30, with or without a Powr-Lok limited slip differential and geared in ratios of 3.73, 4.10, 4.27, or 4.87.
By far...the simplest way to determine what is inside is pull the cover and get the tooth count that is stamped on the ring gear along with the part number. And then when you look at the differential, you can determine if it is a Powr-Lok or an open unit.
Even if the "tag" is present under one of the cover bolt heads, who knows if someone has been inside and made changes? The bill of materials (bom) number is stamped on the right hand axle tube but can be very hard to find. That number is then de-coded to determine how the axle was originally set up.
Anything else posted at this point is pure conjecture.
