How can i tell what axles are in my 77 scout II

How can I tell what axles are in my 77 Scout II? I just bought it and am wondering how you can el what axles are in it. It as the 304 I believe in it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi chris, for best id of the axle you need to look for the bom # on the axle. It can be hard to see though. On the front axle it should be on the forward side just under the oil filter, drivers side, you will need to wire brush the area and look real close, they are stamped in the tube and not very big.
The following link has a good discription of locations of the boms and there was a link in this post to a pdf file that list "most" Dana axles.

Keep in mind that the po May have changed what's inside the axle, lockers, ls differential.
