hood release is super difficult now

Just had my rusty, almost nonexistent floors replaced and of coarse had to realign my doors and windshield frame since everything had been sagging so much. But now I have the hardest time pulling my hood release knob. The alignment looks good but I feel like I'm going to break something to get the hood open. Any ideas to fix this?

Get the hood raised while ya can, then lubricate everything in the hood release path (and hinges) with a penetrating-type dry film or teflon lube. This is a fairly normal occurrence, if it really hangs up, the release cable will break and you will have to go up from underneath with a coat hanger or welding rod and release from there.

The thing is that its easy to pull that cable when the hood is up. It's nice and smooth like it was before I did the floors. Does that matter? I feel like the hood is hung up on the latch somehow. And how hard is it to get that cable, does IHOnly north carry that. Sorry I haven't looked. Thanks for the reply

Gavin, one thing that helped me align the latch was to clean the latch opening on the fire wall and clean the pin on the hood. Coat the pin with a heavy coat of grease and lower the hood just until the latch and pin touch (becareful not to let it latch shut). Then look at the grease it should indicate which way you need to adjust the hood and or pin for proper alignment.
