Is any one out there been running them? My edelbrok is a pos I got it rebuilt last year and I still have to start my Scout with starting fluid pretty much every time I heard some good things about the holly street avengers but just wanted to check on forum
 
Im thinking after you shut off your motor, its evaporating the fuel in the bowls, then when you go to start the next day the no fuel in the bowl leads to using the starting fluid or lots of cranking and pumping the accelerator

try one of those heat resistant carb gaskets before switching carbs ?

Ya I think a jetted down street avenger would be a fine carb. Really any carb adjusted properly should work
in the carb section there are lots of write ups on getting holleys and edelbroks working seamlessly

iv run an edelbrok 1400 for the past 17 years and have it dialed in good. Im positive you can get yours working the same

Need more specifics on the engine, current carb and the proposed new carb. Any time I hear the words "street" or "performance" mentioned in conjunction with "IH engine" I automatically think of how well oil and water go together.
 
The street avenger is a carb that supposdly is built in mind for offroaders in mind I guess they wont cut out at extreme inclines.....I have a 4 barrel edelbrock not sure what model off the top of my mind but when I get home I could look for some numbers
 
It could be that series my buddy mentioned something like that I'm not sure. I also was thinking about throwing fuel injection on it and say screw it but I'm not sure if it would work with the d.u.I distributor I just got so thats why I kind want to shy away from that
 
Bite the bullit and go fuel injection. Carbs suck when going offroad. Even when finely tuned properly for the terrain, they still lack in full potential. The offroad mods in the carbs are basically a bandaid. Been there done that. I'm currently in middle of helping a friend with installing a complete hamilton FI kit onto a 69 800. And eventually I will be going FI on my 73 beast. I don't remember if the dui is compatible, but I think it is. Read through the fuel injection sub forum on here. Bill hamilton is the go to IH FI guru around these parts.

I haven't forgotten about ya on the fuel filler neck. Trying to get caught up with a few projects along with spring cleaning in my man cave.
 
There are probably several other companies that build FI kits. But the key feature is direct bolt on and compatibility with these ol iron heavies. From my own experience ya get better support with hamilton FI. Plus, the adapter plates that mr hamilton makes for the kits are specific to IH motors. IHPA is a dealer/supplier of these kits. Dealbreaker posted up the link for IHPA. Same kit that I'm currently installing on a 69 800 with a 266 v8
